Even though we are restricted by certain governmental and inter-governmental policies and requirements, we nevertheless spend a great amount of time and effort trying to ensure that we have done everything in our power to guarantee that each of our babies are loved forever.
When we are unable to identify a local South African family who can meet this need, we spread our search across the seas. Today there are numerous TLC babies, in TLC families around the world.
TLC babies have been adopted by parents in Belgium, Botswana, The Netherlands, Switzerland, the United Arab Emirates and the following countries. Below, click on the names of the children to read only a few of the stories of the children who have passed through the doors of TLC:

Beata
 |
| Beata was born in the summer of 2006. She was born 10 weeks early and weighed only 1160 grams at birth. Beata suffered from chronic lung disease and had a number of other difficulties with her health. Beata's mommy was also very ill and requested that an adoptive family be found for her daughter.
Despite all her challenges, God has a plan for our little girl. He found her the perfect daddy and in November 2008, after an exhaustive adoption process, our little princess was successfully placed into her forever family. |
Bryony

| Bryony was born prematurely in the Johannesburg Hospital in the summer of 2002. Her mommy could not be traced when she was eventually ready to be discharged and the hospital requested that we look after Bryony and help her to find a forever family.
Bryony was three weeks old when we bought her home to TLC. Over the next three months all efforts to track down Bryony's mother were unsuccessful, and as Bryony was doing well it was decided to place her with a local adoptive family.
Bryony left TLC in the autumn of 2003. She was almost 5 months old. |
Daniel

| Daniel was born in the summer of 2009 in the Sebokeng hospital about 50km south of TLC. Sadly his birthmother felt that she would be unable to care for her little boy at this point in her life and requested that a forever family be found for him. Daniel was 10 days old when he came to TLC.
Daniel is a sweet little fellow, though he was a little susceptible to chest infections. For the short time he was with us at TLC he was loved a lot! Daniel spent a little over three months with us before he went home to his forever family. |
Faith

| Faith was born in the summer of 2004. She was a sickly baby and her lungs had been badly damaged by tuberculosis, she was dependant on supplemental oxygen. By the time she was thirteen months old, her mother admitted that she was not able to give Faith the care she needed and it was arranged that Faith would come to TLC.
While Faith was at TLC we managed to stabilise her health and wean her off the oxygen. Faith was at TLC for two and a half years. In her time at TLC, she wiggled her way into the heart of one of our staff members and early in the summer of 2007 Faith was adopted. |
Fania

| Fania was born in a hospital in a town east of Johannesburg, early in the summer of 2002. After delivering her daughter, Fania's tummy mummy disappeared. There were plans to send Fania to a children's home in the town where she lives, however as they were overcommitted they requested that we care for her at TLC. Fania was already three months old when she came to TLC.
Fania spent a little over two months at TLC before we were able to place her with a lovely South African lady, who was delighted with her new little daughter. Since then Fania has been joined by an adoptive sister. |
Ida

| Ida was born in the winter of 2007 in a hospital to the south of TLC. Her birthmother had three older children, and was relying on her mother for support as she was unemployed. She didn't feel she could take a fourth baby home, and requested that an adoptive family be sought for her youngest daughter.
Ida came to TLC when she was four days old. After just less than three months with us Ida found a forever family with a lovely South African couple. She is now their little princess and her mommy and daddy are over the moon! |

Liberty

| Liberty was born in the spring of 1998 in the Johannesburg Hospital. She was a big baby, weighing 3.7 kilograms. Her birthmother was unwell and could not care for her. She asked us to look after Liberty.
As Libby's mother's health continued to deteriorate we found a family for Liberty, who would look after her and adopt her should anything happen to her birthmother. Eventually Libby's birthmother did pass away and she was successfully adopted. Libby is growing beautifully and doing very well. |
Lucas

| Lucas was born prematurely in the Natalspruit Hospital in the winter of 2007. A month after he was born the hospital's social worker asked us to help him find a forever family.
Two months after coming to TLC Lucas was adopted by a Dutch lady who is living in South Africa. Lucas and his mommy are now a very happy family. |
Melinda

| Melinda was born in the winter of 2005. Her birthmother felt unable to support a second child and asked that an adoptive family be found for her daughter. Melinda was two days old when she came to TLC.
Melinda was always a little munchkin and so cute. As time progressed we suspected that something was delaying her development. She was diagnosed with Cornelia de Langa Syndrome. But Melinda was blessed with a couple who were determined to adopt her come what may and when Melinda was 9 months old she went home forever with her new mommy and daddy. Since then Melinda has constantly surprised the world with her progress, thanks to all the care and love her mommy and daddy give her! |
Nika

| Nika was born in the winter of 2006 in the Sebokeng hospital about 50km south of TLC. His birthmother was ill and felt unable to support her son, she asked that an adoptive family be found for her little boy. Nika was a little over 1 month old when he came to TLC.
A young lady who met Nika in the hospital grew very attached to him and she and her family began to visit him on a regular basis. During this time they were screened as an adoptive family and were over the moon when they were eventually able to take him home! Nika was five and a half months old when he went home to his forever family. |
Oliver

| Oliver was born in the Natalspruit Hospital early in the winter of 2005. He was a small but healthy little boy. His young mommy felt that it would be impossible for her to raise her son and requested that an adoptive family be sought for him.
Oliver was just over a week old when he joined us at TLC. After a little over four months at TLC Oliver was adopted by a local family. His big sister was delighted with her little brother. Since then Oliver and his family have relocated to Israel, where he continues to blossom. |
Sabrin

| Sabrin was born in the Coronation Hospital in the winter of 2008. Her young unwed mommy felt that it would be impossible for her to raise her daughter and requested that an adoptive family be sought for her.
Sabrin was just over a week old when she joined us at TLC. Sabrin was a strong healthy baby and about six weeks later she went home with her forever mommy and daddy and her big brother. Sabrin is dearly loved and fits right into her new family. |

Adam

| Adam was born just before Christmas in 2003. He was born in a mining town 300 km west of Johannesburg. Adam's young mommy already had a child and as she was unemployed did not expect that she would be able to support her youngest son. She requested that an adoptive family be found for him.
Adam was about three weeks old when we brought him home. After three short months at TLC Adam flew home to Austria with his forever mommy and daddy. |
Amahle, Babazile & Noah

| Amahle and Babazile were born in the spring of 2001. They were born prematurely in the Johannesburg Hospital. They were tiny little girls and Amahle was quite a fragile baby. Their mommy was ill and had little family support. She thought it would be best if an adoptive family were found for her daughters. Five months after they came to TLC they were adopted by a fantastic forever mommy and daddy from Austria. About eighteen months later they all came back to fetch a little brother, Noah.
Noah was born in the spring of 2003, in a mining town about 300km west of Johannesburg. His mother abandoned him shortly after he was born. Bryan

| Bryan was born six weeks prematurely in the summer of 2005. He was born in the Johannesburg Hospital and weighed only 2.2 kg. Shortly after delivering her son his mother passed away. None of his biological family members felt that they were in a position to take on the financial responsibility of another child.
Nine days after he was born the hospital contacted TLC and requested that we look after Bryan. We bought little Bryan home and put a lot of care and effort into growing him into a little person with a wonderful personality. Ten months after coming to TLC Bryan was adopted by an awesome Austrian couple who are delighted with their son. |
Caleb

| In the summer of 2006 Caleb was found abandoned in a derelict house shortly after he had been born. A passerby found him and took him to the local hospital where he was admitted. After twelve days in hospital the hospital social worker contacted us and requested that we care for Caleb.
All efforts to trace Caleb's birthmother were unsuccessful and three and a half months after coming to TLC Caleb was adopted by the most beautiful Austrian couple. |
Chacen

| Chacen was born in the middle of the spring of 2007. He was born in the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital. His birthmother disappeared from the hospital shortly after he was born.
After three weeks a social worker employed by the hospital approached us and requested that we help him to find a forever family. Four months after coming to TLC Chacen was placed with an Austrian family. What a blessed family! And what a beautiful blessed boy! |
Corwin

| Corwin was born in the summer of 2008. His mommy felt that she would be unable to care for him. She gave birth to him alone in an alleyway, her baby weighed 1.7 kilograms. A young doctor from a nearby hospital found Corwin a few hours later and took him to the hospital where he was treated for hypothermia and hypoglycemia. When efforts to trace Corwin's tummy mummy were unsuccessful the hospital asked us to look after him and help him to find a forever family. Corwin was about 5 weeks old when we brought him home to TLC.
Corwin grew into a fine little man. After six months at TLC he was fit and strong and we placed him with a forever family from Austria. His new mommy and daddy had waited a long time for their little boy and were overjoyed to finally welcome him into the family. |

Dumisa

| Dumisa was born in the summer of 2007. He was born in the Natalspruit Hospital. He was the fifth child in his family. Dumisa's mother was unemployed and not able to carry the financial burden of yet another child, so she requested that an adoptive family be found for her youngest son.
Dumisa arrived at TLC at the age of three days. He had a few health concerns and high muscle tone in his legs in his first months, but by the time he was a year old, everything had resolved itself and six days after his first birthday Dumisa was adopted by an Austrian couple. Dumisa's mama and papa are besotted by their beautiful son, and are now the picture of a happy family. |
Fidelia and Zinhle

| Zinhle was born in the winter of 2004. She was born in a hospital to the east of Johannesburg. Her young mommy felt that she would not be able to provide for a second child and requested that her youngest daughter be placed with an adoptive family. Zinhle was 11 days old when she came to TLC. After just less than 4 months Zinhle was adopted by a delighted Austrian couple.
About 2 years later Zinhle brought her mommy and daddy back to TLC to fetch a little sister, Fidelia. Fidelia was born in the summer of 2006. She was found in a room in a hostel soon after she was born and was admitted to hospital. After three weeks in hospital Fidelia joined us at TLC. She was a sweet little elf-girl and was a great favourite in our nursery. Fidelia was 4 months old when she went home. |
Galen and Rochelle

| Galen was born 14 weeks prematurely in the Johannesburg Hospital in 2004 weighing only 844 grams! After two months he was ready to be discharged but his mommy could not be found anywhere. Galen spent four months with us during which he grew into a real little person. Shortly before the start of spring he was adopted by a super Austrian couple.
Rochelle, was born prematurely in the winter of 2007. She spent almost three months in the hospital after she was born. When she was ready to be discharged, her mother also could not be traced. Every effort to find her birthmother was unsuccessful and it was finally decided that she should join an adoptive family. We knew just the right one! After eight months at TLC Rochelle went home with her big brother, Gweda and her forever mommy and daddy. |
Iona

| Iona was born in the autumn of 2006. Her birthmother requested that an adoptive family be found for her daughter and left the hospital shortly after delivery. Iona was bought to TLC within hours of her birth.
Happy little Iona was taken home by an Austrian couple within four months of her arrival at TLC. She is now a sweet little Austrian cupcake. |
Isleen

| Isleen was born in the winter of 2005 in the Natalspruit Hospital east of Johannesburg. Her birthmother felt that she would not be able to care for her daughter adequately and requested that an adoptive family be found for her daughter.
Twelve days after she was born the hospital contacted TLC and requested that we look after Isleen. Five months after she joined us at TLC Isleen was adopted by an Austrian couple who did not have any children, and our little princess flew off to celebrate her first Christmas in the snow. |
Jabulani and Carol

| Carol was born 8 weeks prematurely in the Johannesburg Hospital on Christmas Day in 2002. Her birth mommy was unable to care for her and requested that an adoptive family be found for her. She suffered from chronic lung disease as a result of her premature birth and spent many months on and off oxygen at TLC. By the time Carol was almost a year old we were confident that her health was reasonable stable and we sought an adoptive family for her.
Carol was adopted by a very lovely couple from Austria. Almost exactly a year later Carol brought her mommy and daddy back to TLC to fetch a brother, Jabulani. Jabulani, was born in the autumn of 2004. His mommy was an immigrant from Mozambique, who did not have regular employment. She eventually decided that an adoptive family should be found for her son. Six months after coming to TLC, Jabulani went home with his beautiful sister and his forever mommy and daddy. |

Naledi

| Naledi was born early in the summer of 2008. She was born in the Sebokeng hospital in a township south of Johannesburg. She was a small baby girl with big eyes and a mop of hair! Her mother felt that she would be unable to care for her youngest daughter and requested that an adoptive family be sought for her baby. Naledi was two days old when she came to TLC.
Naledi was a sweet baby girl and managed to creep into a number of hearts at TLC. After five months at TLC she was placed with a forever family from Austria. Her big brother, who was adopted from Ethopia, was delighted with his new sister! |
Quanda and Nomfundo

| Nomfundo was born in the winter of 2005. Her mother was still in high school at was trying to complete her schooling and look after her baby. After six months she eventually accepted the reality that she was not succeeding in doing both. In January 2006 Nomfundo came to TLC and 3 months later she was adopted by a wonderful Austrian doctor and his lovely wife. About eighteen months later they arrived back at TLC to fetch a little sister, Quanda.
Quanda was born six weeks prematurely in the winter of 2007, in the Baragwanath Hospital. She weighed 1.8 kg when she was born. About two months after she was born she was ready to be discharged, but her mother could not be traced. When Quanda was three months old she came to TLC, and we began to look for the perfect forever family for her. Three months after joining us at TLC, we sent her home to Austria with her big sister and her forever mommy and daddy. |
Tarn

| Tarn was born early in the spring of 2008. She was a beautiful healthy little girl, but sadly her mommy felt that she would be unable to look after her little girl. She left her in a place where she knew someone would come by and find her.
The person who found her took her to the local hospital. After a week all efforts to trace her mother had been unsuccessful and the hospital asked us to look after Tarn. Over the next three months we continued looking for her mother but we too were unable to find any trace of her. After four months at TLC, Tarn was adopted by the sweetest Austrian couple, and their son who had also been adopted from South Africa. |
Wandiswa and Willow

| Willow was born 12 weeks prematurely in the spring of 2002 in the Johannesburg Hospital. When he was 2 months old he was ready to be discharged, but his mother could not be found. After 5 months at TLC, after all efforts to find Willow's mother had failed, Willow was adopted by a lovely Austrian family and went home with his Mom and Dad and his big brother and sister.
Three years later Willow and his family returned to South Africa to fetch a little sister, Wandiswa. Wandiswa's birthmother was still very young and attending school. After delivering her daughter, in the spring of 2005, she requested that an adoptive family be found for her, as she still needed to finish school. Wandiswa came to TLC the day after she was born and 4 months later she went home with her big new family. |
Yani

| Yani was born early in the summer of 2008. He was born in the Sebokeng hospital in a township south of Johannesburg. He was the sweetest baby boy with huge soulful eyes! His tummy mummy felt that she would be unable to care for this, her youngest son and requested that an adoptive family be sought for her baby. Yani was four days old when we bought him home to TLC.
Yani's easy-going nature and handsome features quickly found him lots of girlfriends at TLC, and he soon became a firm favourite in the nursery. After five months at TLC we found a forever family for Yani in Austria. His big sister, who was adopted from Ethopia, is absolutely crazy about her lovely little brother! |
Zareh

| Zareh was born in the spring of 2007 in a hospital to the south of TLC. He was a beautiful strong baby boy, but sadly his birthmother was not in a position to provide for her son. She requested that a forever family be sought for him. The social worker from the hospital contacted us and asked us to assist him. Zareh was one day old when he came to TLC.
Just over three months later Zareh went home with a lovely Austrian family, who were so very happy to have such a sweet son. |

Alexis

| Alexis was born in the spring of 2008. His mommy was very young and unable to care for him. Following a hospital admission arrangements were made for Alexis to come and stay at TLC so he could be well cared for. All effort to find his mommy were unsuccessful. Alexis settled in well and is a busy little guy who rarely sits still for very long.
Almost ten months after coming to TLC Alexis went home to Denmark with his new parents. They were all SO happy to be together, at last! |
Alvin

| Alvin was born in the summer of 2007. He was born in the Klerksdorp Hospital in a mining town about 300 km west of Johannesburg. His birth mother was unemployed and already struggling to provide for her two year old. She requested that an adoptive family be found for her son. Alvin was three months old when he came to TLC and we began looking for the perfect family for him.
Four months later Alvin was adopted by a wonderful Danish couple who are so very, very happy with their little son. |
Andile

| Andile was born in the summer of 2006 in the Natalspruit Hospital in Thokoza east of Johannesburg. He was quite a little fellow, weighing just over 2 kilograms when he was born. Andile's tummy mummy was unemployed and homeless, she felt that she would not be able to provide for her son, and requested that an adoptive family be found for her son.
Shortly after the start of 2007, when Andile was almost a month old, the hospital requested that we look after him and help him to find a forever family. In a little over two months after he arrived Andile was adopted by a super Danish family, who are supremely blessed with their little man. |
Angela and Wallace

| Wallace was born in the Natalspruit hospital in the winter of 2004, weighing only 1.5 kilograms. Wallace's tummy mummy felt that she would be unable to provide for her son and she left him in the hospital. After two months, the hospital contacted TLC and asked us to look after him. Wallace was a sweet tempered baby and five months after coming to TLC, Wallace was adopted by his forever mommy and daddy from Denmark. They found that having such a lovely little boy was a lot of fun and so just less than two years later they came back to TLC and added a daughter, Angela, to the family.
Angela was a healthy full term baby. Her tummy mummy was unable to look after her she was brought to TLC where we assisted her in finding a forever family. Angela was a beautiful little girl, though her temper is a little more fiery! Three months after coming to TLC Angela went home to Denmark with her forever mommy and daddy and her brother Wallace! |
Angelo

| Angelo was born in the summer of 2005. He was born ten weeks early and weighed only 1.7kg at birth. His birth mother was very ill and his father was not able to care for such a small baby. When he was two months old and ready to be discharged the hospital requested that we look after Angelo until he was bigger. As Angelo grew up we discovered that his nasal passages were not formed properly. This meant that he needed to have a number of surgical procedures to his nose.
Eventually it was clear that he would not be able to return to his biological family and we began to look for just the right forever family for him. When Angelo was almost eleven months old he flew home to Denmark with a really super new mom and dad. Today he is a happy, healthy little Dane who is loved very, very much. |
Bernard

| Bernard was born in the summer of 2008 in the Chris Hani Baragwanath hospital. His young mommy is a refugee from Zimbabwe and already has a one year old baby that she is struggling to support. She decided that it would be better for Bernard if he was raised by an adoptive family who would be better able to provide for him. She requested that TLC help her to find a forever family for her son.
Bernard was five months old when we placed him with a gentle and loving Danish family who are just crazy about their little boy. |
Burke

| Burke was born just after Christmas in the summer of 2008, in an area to the east of Johannesburg. His mommy had three teenage children and requested that a new forever family be found for her youngest son. Burke was two weeks old when we bought him home to TLC. Burke grew steadily and it wasn't long before his handsome smile was a favourite in our nursery.
Eight months later Burke flew home to Denmark with his new mommy and daddy and his big brother. What a lovely family! |
Donald

| Donald was born early in the spring of 2007. He was born 6 weeks early and weighed only 1.295 kg when he was born in the Baragwanath Hospital. His mother felt that she didn't have the resources or support to care for him and requested that he be placed in an adoptive family. After 2 months he was ready to be discharged and the hospital social workers contacted us.
Donald was still very small and fragile. After a lot of hard work, heart-stopping moments, and plenty of tender loving care, Donald was eventually stable enough and strong enough to go to a forever family. In the autumn of 2008, Donald was adopted by a Danish couple. As the baby of the family, we know that Donald will continue to be a happy cherished little man with a bright future. |

Emmanuel and Yentl

| Yentl and Emmanuel were born in the summer of 2005. They were a strong, healthy set of twins but their mother felt unable to care for them and when they were about a week old they were found in the waiting room of a train station in Johannesburg.
Emmanuel and Yentl came to TLC while attempts were made to trace their mother. However all efforts failed and four months later these two lovely siblings were adopted by a Danish couple. In Denmark they are growing into a delightful pair and are their mommy and daddy's pride and joy! |
Freya and Kabelo

| Kabelo was born prematurely in the summer of 2005 in a mining town about 300 km west of Johannesburg. When he was two months old his birthmother passed away and Kabelo came to TLC, as he had no extended family who were able to care for him. Three and a half months after coming to us Kabelo was adopted by a fantastic Danish family. Two years later Kabelo and his forever Mommy and Daddy came back to adopt a little sister, Freya.
Freya was left on a doorstep soon after she was born in the summer of 2007. All efforts to discover who her birthmother was were unsuccessful. After two and a half weeks in a local hospital, the social worker decided that it was unlikely that they would ever be able to find her mother, and Freya then came to TLC. Three months later she became Kabelo's little sister... and a bigger happy family flew home to Denmark in the winter of 2007. |
Hershel

| Hershel was born in the summer of 2007. He was born in the Natalspruit Hospital, east of Johannesburg. His birth parents have three older children whom they were struggling to provide for as they were unemployed. They requested that we look after their youngest son while they try to find employment.
After four months they decided that it would be best if a forever family was found for Hershel. Two months later Hershel went home to Denmark with his forever mommy and daddy. He was six months old. |
Hope

| Hope was born in the summer of 2006 in the Natalspruit hospital east of Johannesburg. Her young mommy was unemployed and ill-equipped to look after a new baby. She requested that a forever family be found for her daughter.
Almost three months after coming to TLC, Hope flew off to Denmark with her wonderful new mommy and daddy. |
Ilario

| Ilario was born in the summer of 2009 in Sebokeng, an area south of Johannesburg. His mommy was unwell and felt that she couldn't look after her son. She requested that an adoptive family be found for her little boy. Ilario was 10 days old when he came to the TLC farm.
Ilario is a cheerful little boy, and his new mommy and daddy were so excited when they came to fetch their son. Ilario had been at TLC for almost seven months. |
Jolene

| Jolene was born in the winter of 2005. Her unwell mother left her in a packet in the veld (open grassland). A passerby found her and took her to a local hospital, who then telephoned us and asked that we look after her. Later Jolene's birth parents were found, and a long period of counselling commenced.
Eventually it was decided that a forever family should be found for Jolene. Almost two years after she came to TLC, Jolene was whisked away to Denmark with her besotted forever mommy and daddy. |
Julian

| Julian was born in the autumn of 2007 in Sebokeng, an area south of Johannesburg. His mommy was struggling to provide for him and Julian was admitted to the local hospital a few times. On his last admission it was decided that he should come to TLC until his mommy was in a better position to look after him.
After two years it had become apparent that Julian's tummy mummy would not be able to look after him, and processes were started to find Julian a forever family. 27 months after coming to TLC Julian was placed with a fantastic Danish mommy and daddy! |
Kizito

| Kizito was born in the autumn of 2008. He was born en-route to the hospital. He was a big, healthy boy, but his young mommy felt that she would be unable to look after him, and requested that an adoptive family be sought for her son.
After two weeks in hospital Kizito came to TLC. He is a beautiful boy and was a great favourite with everyone. After 4 months at TLC Kizito went home to Denmark with his new mommy and daddy who were very excited to have such a lovely little son! |

Oprah

| Oprah was born in the autumn of 2006 to a very young mommy and daddy. For various reasons they were unable to look after her. A number of options were explored under the insistence of the social worker responsible for her, however none of these solutions were right for our beautiful little princess.
In the summer of 2009 after a long and difficult process we were so, so, SO delighted to FINALLY be able to hand Oprah over to her new forever mommy and daddy. For this little girl it was an arduous journey, but she is such a wonderful child, and we know that now she will have the opportunity to blossom into that most amazing little woman that we can already see in her. We know that Denmark is truly blessed to have her! |
Thandeka and Dilane

| Dilane was born prematurely in a hospital south of TLC in the summer of 2004. His birthmother was still at school and requested that an adoptive family be found for Dilane. Dilane was another of those little fellows who needed a good amount of extra TLC, but at last, just after his first birthday he was adopted by a wonderful Danish couple. Two and a half years later Dilane and his parents came back to TLC to adopt a little sister, Thandeka.
In a very similar situation, Thandeka was born prematurely in the Natalspruit Hospital, east of Johannesburg, in the autumn of 2006. Her birthmother was still in school and requested that an adoptive family be found for her daughter. She was three weeks old when she joined us at TLC and just less than 5 months later she joined her forever family and flew away to Denmark. |
Ulrica and Toby

| Toby was born in the winter of 2004. His birthmother already had a three year old she was struggling to provide for as she was unemployed. She requested that an adoptive family be sought for her newborn son. Three and a half months later, Toby was adopted by a super Danish couple and flew home to Denmark. Two years later Toby flew back to us, to fetch his little sister, Ulrica.
Ulrica was born early in the summer of 2006. She was born in a hospital east of Johannesburg. Her mommy felt unable to cope with, and support a baby. She requested that an adoptive family be found for her daughter. Ulrica was five days old when she came to TLC. Four months after joining us Ulrica waved goodbye and went home with her forever family. |
uThando

| uThando was born prematurely in the Natalspruit Hospital early in the spring of 2007, weighing 1.9 kg at birth. After 10 weeks in the neonatal unit of the Natalspruit Hospital in Thokosa, east of Johannesburg, he was ready for discharge. His mother could not be found, and the hospital social worker requested that we look after uThando while they continued to look for his mother.
uThando arrived as a scrawny little fellow, with a lot of fight, and within a few months had grown into himself quite nicely. His birthmother was found, but requested that an adoptive family be found for her son. Two months later uThando joined a sweet Danish family who are delighted with their little boy! |
Vaughn

| Vaughn was born in July 2005, in the middle of our winter. He was born prematurely in a hospital in a mining town about 300 km west of Johannesburg. When he was 2 months old he was ready to be discharged, but his mother could not be traced. After two weeks the hospital social worker asked us to look after Vaughn and help him to find a forever family.
Five months after arriving at TLC Vaughn joined a sweet Danish couple, who were ecstatic to welcome their son home. |
Xavier

| Xavier was born prematurely in the Sebokeng hospital at the end of the winter of 2007. He weighed 1.7 kg at birth. Two weeks after he was born he was ready to be discharged from the hospital but his mother could not be traced.
A social worker at the hospital requested that we look after him and find him a forever family. After five months at TLC his mother still could not be found and Xavier went home to Denmark with his forever family who love him very much. |
Yisrael

| Yisrael was born on the third day of spring in 2007. He was born prematurely in the Johannesburg Hospital weighing 1.9 kg. His mother went to a funeral in Natal, and when it came time for Yisrael to be discharged she still had not returned.
Yisrael was sent to a children's home in Johannesburg, however when the mother did not return they decided that he could not stay there. When Yisrael was one month old he came to TLC. For a while Yisrael's health was a bit unstable, but eventually he was well enough for us to find him a forever family. After eight months at TLC, "Yizzie" was adopted by a lovely Danish family. |

Alex and Carey

| Alex was born in the summer of 2003. His birthmother was very young and ended up having a baby after a series of unfortunate events. She was not in a position to care for a baby and requested that an adoptive family be found for him. A little more than five months after Alex came to TLC he was adopted by a forever mama and papa from Germany. Almost exactly three years later Alex came back to South Africa to fetch a little sister, Carey.
Carey was born eight weeks early, in the winter of 2006, weighing 1.7 kilograms. Her birthmother was unemployed with no permanent home and requested that a family be found who would be able to give her daughter the life she deserved. Carey was five days old when she came to TLC. Carey was a beautiful little pixie, and a firm favourite with everybody here. A little more than four months after coming to TLC, Carey was able to go home with her forever family! |
Ariane

| Ariane was born in the summer of 2005. When she was about two days old she was discovered in an open field and taken to hospital where she was treated for hypothermia and pneumonia. After two weeks in hospital, the hospital social workers contacted us and asked us to look after Ariane.
Ariane was always a sunny little blossom, and when all efforts to find her family were unsuccessful, we were able to place her with a lovely German couple. Three months after joining us Ariane was on her way home to Germany...with all our love! |
Banele

| Banele was born in the Sebokeng hospital in a township south of Johannesburg. He was a healthy full term baby who was born in the springtime of 2006. His birth parents felt that they would not be able to provide for their young son and requested that an adoptive family be found for him. He was two days old when we fetched him from the hospital and brought him home to TLC.
Banele is a happy, contented little fellow with a bright, infectious smile. After three and a half months with us, Banele flew home to Germany with his forever mommy and daddy and his very happy big sister. |
Bronia

| Bronia was born in the Natalspruit Hospital east of Johannesburg during the winter of 2004. Bronia was born with both of her nostrils sealed. As a result it was necessary for Bronia to undergo a number of procedures in hospital. After four months of being in and out of hospital, Bronia's mother did not return to fetch her when she was discharged from yet another stint in hospital. After waiting for two months the hospital social worker contacted us and asked us to look after Bronia.
During the four months that Bronia was at TLC, she had further procedures on her nose, and was eventually adopted by the most lovely German couple, who are so happy with their special daughter! In Germany Bronia underwent one final operation and she is now... just perfect! |
Faithful

| Faithful was born in a public park in a township to the east of Johannesburg. Shortly after she was born she was taken to the local hospital by a passerby who had found her. After all efforts to trace her mother were unsuccessful the social worker at the hospital requested that we look after Faithful and help her to find a forever family.
Faithful is a lovely little girl, and within three months of arriving at TLC she went home to Germany with her ecstatic forever mama and papa! |
Gweda and Hosannah

| Gweda, born prematurely in the summer of 2003, was one of the smallest babies we ever had, weighing a little over 900 grams. When he was ready to be discharged his birthmother could not be found anywhere. He was just ten weeks old when he came to TLC. Gweda was a fragile baby and took a good deal of TLC! But eventually he turned into a real little person, and when he was ten months old he was successfully adopted by a lovely German couple. Four years later Gweda returned with his mommy and daddy to adopt a little sister.
Hosanna was born in the autumn of 2007. She was found outside a shelter in a town south of Johannesburg. She was taken to a local hospital while efforts were made to find her biological parents. After three weeks her parents had not been found and TLC was requested to care for Hosanna and help her find a forever family. Hosanna went home with her new family after four months at TLC. |
Honoured

| Honoured was born in the summer of 2007. He was born 10 weeks early in the Baragwanath Hospital. He weighed only 1.4 kilograms when he was born. When he was three months old he was ready to be discharged but the hospital were unable to trace his mother's whereabouts. A month later they contacted TLC and requested that we look after Honoured.
Honoured is a very sweet-tempered little fellow with a very sociable nature. After 5 months at TLC Honoured was successfully adopted by a German couple. It was a happy family from the moment they met, and we are so delighted that Honoured now has the wonderful family that he deserves! |

Jane and Ignatius

| Ignatius was born in the spring of 2003. His biological family were having difficulties and when Ignatius was ten months old they found that they were unable to continue looking after him. Ignatius arrived at TLC late in the autumn of 2004. After all efforts to restore Ignatius to his family were unsuccessful, we sought out a forever family for "Iggie". Four months after coming to TLC "Iggie" was adopted by a lovely German family.
Three years later "Iggie" was back to fetch his little sister. Jane was born in Sebokeng, in the winter of 2007. Jane was her mother's eighth child. Her mother felt that she would not be able to support yet another child, and requested that an adoptive family be found for her youngest daughter. Jane came to TLC and five months later she went home to Germany with her new mama and papa and her big brother. |
Justin

| Justin was born nine weeks prematurely in the autumn of 2003. He was found outside a local clinic in Johannesburg shortly after he was born. Justin was taken to the Johannesburg Hospital where he was treated for hypothermia. After a month in hospital Justin was well enough to be discharged and social workers had been unable to trace his mother. The hospital contacted us and asked us to help him find a forever family.
Justin took some time growing in our nursery and getting lots of hugs and kisses. After nine months at TLC we successfully placed him with a family in Germany who were SO happy with their little son! |
Keagan

| Keagan was born in the spring of 2006. When he was about nine months old he was found in an old cemetery. He was in good health and looked like he was well cared for. All our efforts to trace his mother were unsuccessful, and after 4 months with us at TLC our little live-wire went home to Germany with his new mommy and daddy.
He is a wonderful little fellow and left behind a number of broken-hearted girls in Africa. |
Nicholas and Nikela

| Nikela was born in the autumn of 2004. When she was six weeks old her tummy mommy left her with her dad and disappeared. Her father was unable to care for her and requested that a forever family be found for her. Nikela came to TLC and a little over two months later she went home with her forever mommy and daddy, and her big brother Cedric from Germany. A little over three years later Nikela and Cedric returned to TLC with their mommy and daddy to fetch a little brother, Nicholas.
Nicholas was born in the middle of the winter of 2007. His tummy mummy passed away shortly after he was born, and his aged grandmother was unable to care for him. She requested that we assist her in finding a forever family for her grandson. Nicholas was two and a half weeks old when he came to TLC. Almost three months after arriving at TLC Nicholas was on his way home with his big sister Nikela and his new mommy and daddy. |
Orson

| Orson was born prematurely in the Natalspruit Hospital in the autumn of 2007. When he was ready to be discharged his mother could not be found. When Orson was four months old the hospital social worker requested that we look after Orson and find him a forever family.
Four months after coming to TLC, Orson was adopted by a lovely German couple, who were completely overwhelmed by his wonderful smile. |
Pearl and Doddwin

| Doddwin was born in 2000. As a toddler he was diagnosed with septic arthritis of the right knee. He spent the next nine months in and out of hospitals, and was eventually abandoned by his mother. When he was transferred into our care, he was two years old and couldn't walk and his development was quite delayed due to the long time he had spent in hospitals.
Doddwin spent six months with us, in which time we got him onto his feet. He was then adopted by a super German couple, where he proceeded to progress from strength to strength. We were delighted when Doddwin came back to fetch a sister, Pearl, five years later.
Pearl was born early in the spring of 2007. Her birthmother had various problems and was unable to care for a baby. Pearl was three days old when she came to TLC, and three months later she went home to Germany with her big brother, and her forever mommy and daddy. |
Pieter

| Pieter was transferred to TLC from a ministry in a town to the south of Johannesburg when he was just over 2 years old. His mother had reportedly disappeared. He was quite malnourished and they assumed that he was HIV positive.
When Pieter arrived at TLC he was tested for HIV and we found that he was not in fact infected with the virus. With a lot of dedicated love and attention he soon regained the picture of health, and five months after his arrival at TLC Pieter was successfully adopted by a caring German couple who are just perfect for Pieter! |

Rosaria

| Rosaria was born in the winter of 2004. When Rosaria was four months old she was admitted to hospital in a severely malnourished condition. When she was eventually ready to be discharged, after spending two months in the hospital, her family could not be traced.
When Rosaria joined us at TLC she was six months old and weighed 2,7 kg. We spent many hours feeding and loving our angel and five months after we bought Rosaria home we were delighted to have her adopted by a german couple, who are most delighted with their little daughter. In their own words, "(She) is the most wonderful little girl we can imagine!!! She has made us the happiest parents of the world!!! She is simply the greatest happiness for us, the sunshine of our life!" |
Rupert

| Rupert was born at the end of the winter of 2006. At the time that Rupert was born his mother was unwell, and when he was three weeks old the hospital social workers asked us to help look after Rupert until his mother's health improved.
Over the next two years every effort was made to help his family get to the point where they would be stable enough to care for their youngest son. However it eventually became clear that this would not be possible, and that Rupert would need to find a forever family. 1 day short of 2 years after arriving at TLC, Rupert was delighted to go home to Germany with his new Mamma and Pappa. |
Ryan

Udell and Wendy

| Wendy was born in the winter of 2004. Her birthmother had two older children whom she was struggling to support as a single mother. She requested that an adoptive family be sought for her beautiful little baby. Wendy was eight days old when she came to TLC. After 5 months at TLC she went home to Germany with her new mommy and daddy. Almost two years later Wendy brought her mommy and daddy back to TLC to adopt a little brother, Udell.
Udell was born at the end of the winter of 2007. His birthmother had a number of difficulties and was unable to look after her little son. Udell was two days old when we brought him to TLC. After three short months he was adopted and went home to Germany with his love-sick big sister! |
Wesley and Mpho

| Mpho was born in the winter of 2003. When she was about thirteen months old her mommy became ill and was admitted to hospital. As there was nobody to look after Mpho the hospital asked us to look after Mpho while her mommy was in hospital. Sadly her mommy passed away in the hospital and 5 months after joining us Mpho went home to Germany with her forever family. Three years later Mpho came back to TLC to fetch a little brother, Wesley.
Wesley was born near the end of the winter of 2007, in a township to the south of TLC. His mother disappeared and he was taken to the local hospital who asked us to help him find a forever family for him. Two months after coming to TLC Wesley was winging his way to Germany with his forever Mama, Papa and his doting big sister. |

Christine

| Christine was born 14 weeks early weighing only 900 grams. She was born early in the summer of 2006, Her mother requested that an adoptive family be sought for her, and after 10 weeks in hospital she came to TLC.
For a long time Christine required extra attention as she suffered from chronic lung disease, a consequence of being born before her lungs were fully developed. However over time her lungs did get stronger and Christine grew into a beautiful little flower. When Christine was 14 months old she was placed with a Finnish Mamma and Pappa, and her smile now warms all the hearts in the homeland of Santa Claus! |
Eric

| Eric was born in the summer of 2006. He was a beautiful full term baby boy. Sadly his tummy mummy felt that she would be unable to look after her little boy and requested that a forever family be found for him. Eric was 5 days old when he came to TLC.
Eric grew into a lovely little guy with a wide, gummy smile. After seven months at TLC he was adopted by a wonderful Finnish family. |

Diana

| Diana was born on Christmas day, in the summer of 2006. Her tummy mummy felt that she would be unable to care for her daughter and in her desperation left her newborn in a public place in the hopes that she would have a better life. The person who found her took her to a local hospital. Six weeks later the hospital contacted TLC and asked us to look after Diana.
Diana came to us just before Valentine's Day in 2007. The sweetest little girl you have ever seen. Five months after coming to TLC a forever family had been found for her! Diana was adopted by a beautiful Luxembourgish mommy and daddy. She was almost seven months old when she flew to her new home. |
Hannah

| Hannah was born prematurely on Christmas Eve in 2003. Her mother felt unable to cope with providing for a baby and requested that she be adopted. She was placed in a baby home in Johannesburg, where she continued to have difficulties with her health. By the time Hannah was two years old the social workers had not been able to find an adoptive family for her and since she was now too old to stay in their institution they requested that we allow them to transfer her to TLC.
Over the next two years at TLC, Hannah grew and developed into a sweet loving little girl, although she still had some difficulties relating to her experiences before she came to TLC. Social workers who work with TLC successfully found a lovely Luxembourgish family who were eager to adopt Hannah, and early in 2008 Hannah went home to Luxembourg with her forever mommy, daddy and her new big brother. One more miracle! |
Justin

| Justin was born in 2006 in mid-winter. His mother felt unable to care for him and he was admitted to a baby home in Johannesburg. After eighteen months he was diagnosed as hyperactive and the social workers said that consequently they couldn't find an adoptive family for him.
As an 18 month old Justin was too old to stay in their institution and they requested that we allow them to transfer him to TLC. We saw no evidence of hyperactivity during his stay with us and three months later he was successfully placed with an amazing Luxembourgish family. He now has a four year old brother who was also adopted from South Africa and it was evident from the first moment that the two boys are going to be the best of friends. |
Langa

| Langa was born in Soweto, late in the autumn of 2006. He was found by a passerby and admitted to the Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital suffering from hypothermia. As he developed there were some concerns about his health and development and after an audiological assessment he was diagnosed with a severe hearing loss.
After a lot of searching a wonderful Luxembourgish family with a four year old son who was also adopted from South Africa decided to adopt Langa. Langa went home with his new family just before his second birthday. In Luxembourg grommets were put into Langa's ears and when his hearing was reassessed they found that his hearing is now normal! A great blessing to his family who took this little man into their family and of course to our little Langa. |
Mbulelo

| Mbulelo was born prematurely in the winter of 2005. He was a very sickly baby and was in hospital for a long time after he was born. When he was ready to be discharged his mother could not be found and he was sent to an institution in Johannesburg. By the time Mbulelo was two years old the social workers had not been able to find an adoptive family for him, Mbulelo's development was delayed and he had developed attachment problems. They contacted us and requested that we bring Mbulelo to TLC as he was now too old to stay in that institution.
Mbulelo was two and a half years old when he joined us. With a lot of love and care, and a stimulating environment, Mbulelo made great improvements in many areas. Five months after coming to TLC Mbulelo was sent home with the perfect Mommy and Daddy. They all live in Luxembourg now and we expect to hear more wonderful stories about our boy! |
Thomas

| Thomas was born early in the spring of 2006. He was born prematurely in the Johannesburg Hospital and weighed 2 kg at birth. Thomas had some health concerns as a baby, and at some point it was suspected that he had Foetal Alcohol Syndrome, as a result we had to look very hard to find the right forever family for Thomas.
In 2008 a Luxembourgish family decided they would like to adopt Thomas, and at eighteen months old Thomas flew off to Luxembourg with his mommy and daddy. In Luxembourg all assessments so far show no evidence of Foetal Alcohol Syndrome, and in fact Thomas seems to be quite a clever little fellow compared to the other children his age... Hooray!!! |
Yannick

| Yannick was born early in the summer of 2006. He was found in an open field by a passerby who took him to the local hospital. He was treated for sunburn and when all efforts to trace his birthmother were unsuccessful the hospital contacted us and asked us to look after Yannick and help him to find his forever family. Yannick was three weeks old when he came to TLC and was the most gorgeous baby with huge eyes.
In the winter of 2007, Yannick was adopted by the perfect mommy and daddy from Luxembourg. He had been at TLC for just less than 6 months. |

Amara and Azarius

| Amara was born late in the winter of 1999 with cerebral palsy, and his mother felt unable to care for him. He was placed in an institution where he received very little stimulation or interaction. When he was a year old we succeeded in convincing them to transfer Amara to TLC. At TLC he began to improve his developmental skills immediately. He is a happy boy with a perseverant spirit. It was difficult to find a family to adopt Amara due to his special needs.
Azarius was born in the winter of 2000. When Azarius was about 6 months old, his mommy left him with someone while she went to the public toilet. She never returned and all efforts to trace her were unsuccessful. Azarius was bought to TLC and we set about trying to find a forever family for him. Azarius was adopted by an amazing family from the USA. While they were here this family fell in love with Amara and they returned the following year to adopt him as well. |
