“My name is Tommy Jarvis. At ten months old, I was left at a pub with only a guard dog to care for me. This is my story.”
Where I began
I was born in Lesotho in August, 1993. My father was working in Johannesburg so he could provide for my mom and I.
Ten months later my mom and I headed to Johannesburg to see my father. When we arrived we found out that my father was cheating on my mother with a girlfriend. My mom was very upset about this and tried to stab my father and his girlfriend. My father and his girlfriend ran away and my mom landed up in jail.
I was left at the pub where this fight happened, alone with only a guard dog to fight and take on the world.
Where I am now
I am currently living at TLC with a houseful of siblings and a passion for speaking to teenagers about how I ended up here from where I began.
I have spoken to audiences of up to 1500 people about my journey of hope and God’s love. I would love the opportunity to speak to teenagers in your organisation and share my story.
My motivational speaking takes anywhere from an hour and a half to two hours and I charge according to the organisation. There is a question and answer session at the end of the talk and I do my best to answer openly any questions the teens might have. My aim is that your teenager will learn how to live a more positive life and understand that God does not make mistakes. Through my story I show them that when they go through pain they are not alone.
I cover all or some of the following topics in the talk, depending on your requirements:
- God’s Miracles
- Being HIV+
- Living life positively
- Looking towards the future
