In South Africa, countless children face abandonment when vulnerable families collapse under the weight of poverty, trauma, and lack of support—often leading to institutional care that cannot provide the love of a stable family.
Without intervention, this cycle perpetuates generational trauma, as children grow up without secure attachments and later struggle to maintain their own families, while mothers feel they have no choice but to give up their children.
TLC’s unique “Reviving the Village” approach addresses the root causes of family breakdown through trauma-informed care, mother empowerment, and community strengthening—creating sustainable support systems that keep families together and help children thrive in loving homes rather than institutions.
